Much to my astonishment, I worked at the Vida Nueva mission in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, for one week in each of 2004, 2005, and 2006. I documented the experience each year:
2004: From the files of the kaputt Web site of North Liberty Christian Church. Others took the photos and I wrote the words on behalf of the North Liberty crew. I worked on a crew that applied stucco to a house being built for a member of the church whose house was destroyed in a flood.
2005: I got to learn some carpentry as my crew built bookshelves and desks for the mission's preschool.
2006: I set up some donated computers in the mission's preschool and clinic. I was thrilled to do something I knew how to do well!
